Kootenay Lake also offers some excellent fly fishing, particularly in the spring on the south arm.  If you are a newcomer, hire a guide for a day or more.  You'll get the most information this way, and maybe you'll land the big one too.  Don't forget the most important part - relax and enjoy the day as you escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kootenay Lake. They currently have over twenty-five kilometers of trails developed and maintained by paid and volunteer club members. There are lights for night skiing, two warming huts and trails rated beginner to expert. Their trails and programs can be enjoyed by skiers of all ages and ability levels. Trails are open seven days a week and the night loop is lit until 10:00 p.m. every evening and 12:00 New Years Eve. Tourists and occasional users are welcome to use the facilities for a daily fee.
